Andreas Johansson
Andreas Johansson was born in 1968 and raised in Luleå. Today, he lives and works both in Österlen, with a studio atop Bästekille Backar, and in the north, where he creates in his studio on the family farm in the small village of Gran, nestled high with the inland forest at his back and views over the valley where the Kåge River flows.
Andreas has always created images, initially with a camera in hand before transitioning to brushes and oil paints. For over thirty years, he has transferred his emotions onto canvas, but it wasn't until 2020 that he fully committed to art.
Andreas primarily paints in oil or acrylic, selecting his color palette based on the winds blowing through his emotional landscape. In the special light of Österlen, his paintings are imbued with the walks along the beaches and the freedom he feels from the expansive views. Light plays a central role. Meanwhile, the forests of the north draw him to a richer color palette where nature is close.
With colors, Andreas connects his thoughts and feelings, creating experimental works that can be perceived as fantasies captured on large canvases.
When he holds a brush, time and space vanish. His painting is colored by the tones flowing from the speakers, guiding him through the artistic process of exploration, discovery, and evolution. He doesn't title his works or set boundaries, leaving it to the viewers to experience the paintings, to filter them through their own personal layers of uniqueness.
It's a language without words, more akin to listening to the tones of a beautiful piece of music or falling in love – something grand and captivating that is felt but difficult to articulate.

Bakgrund och Uppväxt
Andreas Johansson föddes år 1968 och är uppvuxen i Luleå. Idag lever och verkar Andreas både på Österlen med ateljé på toppen av Bästekille Backar och i norr där han skapar i sin ateljé på släktgård i den lilla byn Gran, som ligger högt med inlandsskogen i ryggen och utsikt över dalen där Kågeälven rinner.
Tidiga År och Övergång till Måleri
Andreas har alltid skapat bilder, från början med kameran i sin hand för att så sedan byta ut den mot penslar och oljefärger.
Inspiration och Miljö
"The images come to me, I see them in my mind. Like a glimpse of another world.
Sometimes I only understand what I have painted afterwards."
Med färgerna kopplar Andreas samman sina tankar och känslor, för att skapa de experimentella verk som kan uppfattas som fantasier fångade på de stora målardukarna.
"The energy flows in sync with the music. Swift hands sweep the brush across the canvas... The scent of linseed oil and balsam turpentine fills the studio. The sensuality of the oily paint's buttery consistency and distinctive aroma is an experience for both body and soul. Andreas paints intuitively, following his impulses. He shows you images of his landscapes, both inner and outer.
Nature – with all the revelations he has had in the dark forests of the North, in the rushing rivers of the wilderness, and in the light along the long beaches of Österlen – is his never-ending source of inspiration.

"The paintings are constructed from Andreas's innermost feelings. He lives to create them. The meditative process of painting is pure love, and when he finishes a piece, he holds it close to his heart. Yet, he gives it no name, sets no boundaries, but leaves it to the viewers to experience the paintings, to sift them through their own personal layers of all that makes them what they are.
Abstract landscapes and forms where the eye is free to interpret them based on one's own worldview. Perhaps the paintings can provide solace for someone, evoke longing in another? What the motif is determined by the one who rests their gaze upon them. There is no right and there is no wrong. No truth that can describe them with a single poignant sentence.

TOMAS OCH MIMMI HAMMAR
Gallery Hammar was founded in 2023 by the artist couple Tomas and Mimmi Hammar, who had long shared a dream of owning their own gallery where they could exhibit their art together.
The idea of establishing an art gallery in Vasastan was born as early as 2017 when Tomas was at the beginning of his artistic journey. After the impact of the pandemic, the goal became even clearer. In May 2023, Gallery Hammar opened its doors at Rörstrandsgatan 28 and currently represents around 20 artists and sculptors.
At Gallery Hammar, we offer a wide variety of Scandinavian art from both established artists and new talents whose works touch, challenge, and inspire. Our vision is to promote an innovative, inclusive, unconventional, and accessible space for both artists and customers. We constantly strive to provide a unique, modern, and relaxed environment where exciting encounters, interesting conversations, and lasting relationships contribute to a sense of community for all visitors.
Before embarking on their artistic careers, Tomas and Mimmi pursued different paths—Tomas dedicated over 20 years to photography and TV production, while Mimmi worked in HR for almost 10 years. Their diverse backgrounds have been of great benefit in the joint professional journey they have undertaken, often reflected in their roles as both artists and gallery owners.
